Fundraising for research -the new way? The TBDisco example

The Tuberculosis Drug Discovery Group, from the IDRI (Infectious Disease Research Institute, Seattle, USA) launched a fundraising campaign (TB: Through the Looking Glass) in the RocketHub website. The research group, leaded by Tanya Parish, has recorded a funny video (the researchers casting) to summarize what the project intends.

They asked for 3000$, offering high resolution pictures of M.tuberculosis, calendars, visits to their lab, an IDRIS bracelet, etc. for a range of prices from 10-1000$. With still 59 days left for ending the campaign, they already got 3,950$, and the counter is still ongoing.

We’d like to encourage this initiative, support and congratulate this group for being imaginative in these hard times. Shall we all mimic them?
